Our Sustainable Food Policy provides a framework for our commitments to ensure that food is produced, sourced, consumed, and disposed of in such a way that considers the protection of the environment, provides benefit for society and that sets high standards for animal welfare.
We strive to reduce waste and improve recycling programmes.
At Nourish we strive daily to reduce all forms of waste and we have a number of initiatives we run to reduce all of these. These include highlighting plate waste, correct age-appropriate portion sizing and ensuring if we have any products which are in date, but maybe going out of date before a new term starts, we work with our clients to ensure these are given to benefit local families and the community.
We use local and seasonal produce to reduce food miles and tackle food waste.
Nourish makes a conscious effort to support our suppliers on making a positive impact on sustainability. Working with them and buying what they are producing locally, to ensure the journey from farm to fork is as short, both in time and miles, as possible. This ensures we use the freshest ingredients while reducing our CO2 impact on the environment. Furthermore, our supply partners use the latest technology to ensure we are constantly optimising our delivery routes for further reductions in CO2 and road traffic.

Supporting our local community
We support the Living Well Charity in Penge – their services are all free to use and include a food bank and a community lunch – where up to 100 people come to enjoy a hot lunch. Nourish provide a meal once a month with food delivered from local schools whereby food is prepared to deliver a well-balanced, nourishing hot meal to be served by volunteers.
Nourish are proud to sponsor and support the local girls under 17 football club, Beckenham Golden Girls. Beckenham Town currently runs 29 teams across all age groups.
